Vedette Shapewear Style 150-Braless Corset Product Review

Hi Ladies,

This is my review of the Vedette Shapewear line. Today we will be talking about the Vedette Braless Corset Style 150. What can I say….this was a mixed bag. I had some likes and dislikes about this one. Overall… I am going to give it a passing grade and I will tell you why. This corset to my surprise helped with keeping my back in alignment. I have a little back problem and noticed that when I wore this corset, my back did not hurt. Now I know Vedette cannot make medical claims so this is just my personal testimony about what occurred when I wore this corset. I am top heavy and as part of my job I am at my computer most of the day. Most of the time I am pulled forward and my posture is not the best. When I wore this corset I noticed my posture was a lot better and my back was not hurting any more. Just on that point alone I am going to give it to Vedette.

The cons of this corset is since I am a plus sized woman..it is not always the most comfortable piece of shapewear. My figure is in the shape of a barrell right now so I am trying to tame my frame essentially into a different shape that it’s not used to. When I first tried this one I had a time trying to get it on but I found that after wearing it a couple of days, I began to get used to putting this corset on. As you know from before, I have trialed hoisery based shapewear so I was not expecting to put out much effort to don this shapewear. Once I understood the energy it was going to take to put these on.. I was able to put this corset on without fuss and was okay with wearing this type of shapewear.

The other con is that this type of shapewear does not breathe very well. This is not a hosiery based item. I liken it to a wet suit feel or if you have ever tried those exercise shorts from the sporting supply store the texture is similar to those. I looked on the inside label and it says this is made from rubber latex, nylon and spandex so that explains everything. When looking at the Vedette catalog, I noticed that they also sell hosiery based shapewear as well. I learned something new when using the Vedette shapewear being that there are two types of shapewear textures, hosiery based and non-hoisery based.

On the plus side, the corset has two sets of hook and eyes so if you lose weight, you can just pull it in to the next row of hooks. I am trying to lose some weight and it is kind of like a visual encouragement to see as I shrink that I am getting that much closer to moving to the second row of hooks. That makes me happy.

These shapewear are wash and wear. I used cold water and some liquid detergent and let them soak for about 30 minutes since the material is a bit heavier to make sure I cleaned them well. These shapewear have a tendency to make you sweat so good cleaning was in order.

I had a great time trialing this style shapewear and I will be coming back soon with my review of the Bodysuit Style 209 from Vedette Shapewear.

In the month of December the folks at Body Wrap Shapewear sent me 3 products to try consisting of two body suits and one shapewear panty. You can read my reviews and see my first video review in the month of January at my website on http://womens-shapewear.com.

This coming month, I will be giving you my opinions on Vedette shapewear. I have two items I will be coming to you to review. I am having such fun trying different types of shapewear and ultimately you will benefit from my experiences by side-stepping the bad products and sticking with the products that will work for you.

Don't forget this month Valentine's Day is the day that women's shapewear and lingerie get their time to shine. If your lingerie drawer needs some revamping, please get something new and throw out all that old stuff.

Wear your shapewear to get that hour-glass figure and go out and have a romantic evening and then to cap it all off off and put on that lingerie and have a spectacular night.

Girdles Through History

Constructed of elasticized fabric and sometimes fastened with hook and eye closures, the modern girdle is designed to enhance a woman's figure. Most open-bottom girdles extend from the waist to the upper thighs. In the 1960s, these models fell from favor and were to a great extent replaced by the panty girdle. The panty girdle resembles a tight pair of athletic shorts. Both models of girdles usually include suspender clips to hold up stockings.

Girdles were considered essential garments by many women from approximately 1910 to the late 1960s. They created a rigid, controlled figure that was seen as eminently respectable and modest. They were also crucial to the couturier Christian Dior's 1947 New Look, which featured a voluminous skirt and a narrow, nipped-in waistline, also known as a wasp waist.

Later in the 1960s, the girdle was generally supplanted by pantyhose. Pantyhose replaced girdles for many women who had used the girdle essentially as a means of holding up sheer nylon stockings. Those who want more control purchase "control top" pantyhose. Many women forgo wearing girdles, stockings, and pantyhose entirely.

Women have now found a new interest in girdles and new terms such as shapewear and body shapers are replacing the old term of girdle which seems old and archaic. Brands such as Spanx, Flexees and Donna Karen are just a few brand names that make these form fitting devices for women.
